The Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA) is the only registered charity in England and Wales that focuses on every aspect of living with Down’s syndrome, from pre-natal screening to end of life care and support. We seek to create and develop the conditions which will enable people with Down’s syndrome to attain their full potential and lead the lives they want. We provide information, support and training to people with Down’s syndrome living in the UK and those closest to them. We have specialist advisers on benefits, education, health and social care who advise new parents or anyone with questions. Our services include: developing and sharing information; running training courses for parents and professionals; conducting assessments for individuals with Down’s syndrome and delivering our employment programme (WorkFit) to find suitable work for adults with the condition. We also run a sports programme – DSActive – to get more children and adults involved in an active sport.

All funds received form this event will go towards our work in the South West including WorkFit, DSActive (in partnership with Exeter City FC and Plymouth Argyle), our self advocacy groups and support network.

 

DSi is a UK based charity, comprising the internationally recognised global membership network, working to improve quality of life for people with Down syndrome worldwide and promote their inherent right to be accepted and included as valued and equal members of society.

All funds received from this event will be used for our project “Building Capacity in Developing Countries”. We work with small Down syndrome charities in Africa, Asia and South America, putting them on a sound strategic and financial footing and providing training to improve knowledge, society attitudes and empower people with Down syndrome.
